Introduction and Activities of the Information Technology (IT) Department

The Information Technology and IT Department of the Engineering and Construction Company is responsible for planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of all company infrastructures, as well as software and hardware systems. With an approach focused on increasing efficiency, improving service quality, and establishing an appropriate foundation for technological development, this department plays a central role in supporting the company’s core and support processes.

Key activities of this department include:


Management of Software and Online Systems

  • Managing, supporting, and updating more than 10 company online systems, including:
    • Official company website
    • Internal intranet system
    • Financial and accounting systems
    • Equipment and fixed asset management system
    • Procurement and supply system for goods and services
    • Project and site-related systems
    • HR systems, attendance, and payroll
  • Ensuring 24/7 availability, security, and stability of these systems.

Management of Equipment and Workstations

  • Managing and supporting more than 60 computers and workstations across company departments.
  • Installing, deploying, and maintaining operating systems and required software.
  • Planning and performing periodic updates and equipment upgrades to enhance performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving users’ hardware and software issues in the shortest possible time.

Procurement of Hardware and Software

  • Identifying IT needs across departments and supplying required equipment (computers, servers, printers, storage devices, etc.).
  • Procuring, installing, and configuring specialized engineering, administrative, and management software.
  • Managing licenses and ensuring compliance with software intellectual property regulations.
  • Standardizing equipment and software to simplify support and reduce costs.

Management of Internal Networks and Communication

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining internal LAN networks at the headquarters and, when necessary, in project sites and workshops.
  • Managing the company’s external communications via the internet, dedicated communication lines, and secure inter-site connections.
  • Implementing and supporting communication services, including:
    • Corporate email services
    • Messaging and video conferencing systems
    • Secure remote access (VPN) for project and off-site personnel.

Information Security and Backup

  • Implementing security policies and solutions to protect company data and systems.
  • Managing user access and controlling access levels to systems and sensitive information.
  • Conducting regular backups of databases and critical information.
  • Monitoring and preventing cyber threats and malware using up-to-date security tools.

Technical Support and User Services (Help Desk)

  • Providing technical support to all departments and staff for hardware, software, and communication issues.
  • Responding to requests through the ticketing system or established internal procedures.
  • Guiding and training users in the proper use of IT systems and tools.

Planning, Development, and Continuous Improvement

  • Identifying and studying emerging technologies and solutions in engineering and construction to improve processes.
  • Participating in the design and deployment of new systems aligned with the company’s growing needs.
  • Collaborating with senior management in developing IT strategies and the digital transformation roadmap.
  • Documenting processes, policies, and procedures related to IT to ensure consistency and transparency.
